Spending 4 years rowing for London Rowing Club, I finally decided to hang up my oar after Henley Royal Regatta in 2010 and concentrate on my career. The session finished on a high; achieving my PB on a 2km Erg and medalling in most major domestic events in the best 8+ I rowed in over my 9 years in the sport.
Obtaining a fairly good time in the Berlin Marathon despite a lack of training due to the temptations off food, drink and nights out over the Edinburgh Festival, and then a shock result in the Marathon Des Sables finishing 78th with less than a month’s training and multiple injuries. I have decided to give running and/or triathlons (possibly) a go as my dedicated sport.
The blog started to allow family and friends to follow my progress in the Marathon Des Sables, however, I am going to continue posting as I attempt various events, short distance, Marathons, UltraMarathons and Triathlons to settle on a event which I will then dedicate my training to in order to move up the rankings.
